A box of many names.
A blanket box, a foot locker, a chest, a coffer, a casket or a trunk.
A box of many uses. In the olden days it would protect valuables from dust, smoke, dirty hands, mice and prying eyes. Today a box like this could be used for storage, seating or as a coffee table.
Some are carved with a message others made to specific purpose.
